Overview
The DJI O4 Air Unit Series is equipped with the DJI O4 video transmission system, achieving ultra-low latency for more responsive controls. Paired with the dual-antenna design of the DJI O4 Air Unit Pro, the max transmission distance can reach up to 15 kilometers, [2] and the system can automatically select the most stable frequency. Whether soaring over mountains and rivers or navigating indoor spaces, you can perform confidently and with precision.

DJI O4 Airunit & O4 Air Pro Airunit Goggles Compatibility
The DJI O4 Airunit and the DJI O4 Pro Airunit are compatible with the DJI Goggles 2, DJI Goggles Integra, DJI Goggles 3 and DJI Goggles N3.
DJI Goggles 3 and N3 are fully compatible however Racemode is only compatible with DJI Goggles 3 and Goggles N3 and does not work on DJI Goggles 2 and DJI Goggles Integra
DJI FPV Goggles V1 and DJI FPV Goggles V2 are not compatible with DJI O4 Airunit or DJI O4 Pro Airunit.
Please see Mads DJI compatibly chart for more information on DJI product compatibly
DJI O4 Airunit & O4 Air Pro Airunit Remote Controller Compatibility
The DJI FPV remote compatibly is linked to the DJI FPV Goggles used, you can only use the DJI FPV Remote as follows with DJI O4 Airunit and DJI O4 Pro Airunit.
- DJI Goggles 2 & DJI Goggles Integra – FPV Remote V2
- DJI Goggles 3 & DJI Goggles N3 – DJI FPV Remote V3
The DJI RC Motion Series is not compatible with DJI O4 Airunit or DJI O4 Pro Airunit.
Please see Mads DJI compatibly chart for more information on DJI product compatibly
DJI O4 Airunit & O4 Pro Airunit Spectator Mode Compatibility
DJI O4 and O4 Pro offers a spectator feature that allows you to share your flight with another goggles user. Compatibly is as follows
- Master Goggles DJI Goggles 3 – Spectator can be either DJI Goggles 3 or DJI Goggles N3
- Master Goggles DJI Goggles N3 – Spectator can be either DJI Goggles 3 or DJI Goggles N3
- Master Goggles DJI Goggles 2 – Spectator can be either DJI Goggles 2 or DJI Goggles Integra
- Master Goggles DJI Goggles Integra – Spectator can be either DJI Goggles 2 or DJI Goggles Integra
You can not Spectate from DJI Goggles 3/N3 to DJI Goggles 2 or Integra or vise versa.
DJI O4 Airunit & DJI O4 Pro Camera & Cable Compatibility
At this moment in time the DJI O4 and DJI O4 Pro cameras are not interchangeable. The Mipi cable and interface between them is the same however the Pro camera will not work on the O4 Airunit and the O4 Camera will not work on the O4 Pro Airunit however the camera cables them selves are interchangeable.
The DJI O3 camera is not compatible with DJI O4 and the DJI O4 camera are not compatible with DJI O3 Airunit, they use a different Mipi interface connector. As a result of this the DJI O3 camera cable is not compatible with DJI O4.
The DJI O4 Airunit and Cameras does though use the same Mipi interface as the Original DJI FPV System and the Caddx Avatar HD system however in my testing so far the cables are not computable.
DJI O4 Airunit & DJI O4 Pro Airunit Racemode
DJI O4 Airunit and DJI O4 Pro Airunit has a feature called Racemode. This mode allows the system to offer lower latency live view while making the system more compatible for use with other pilots.
- Forced 1080P 100fps mode only.
- 20 Or 40mhz Carrier Mode (20mhz default)
- Manual Channel Selection Only
- Compliant with raceband channel allocation R1-R8.
In Racemode DJI O4 is still bidirectional transmission however O4 changes is RF behavior and aligns the Airunit and Goggles RF carriers onto the same channel. This means DJI O4 should be able to fly in a race or an event environment around other pilots without having a major detrimental affect on other pilots as we have seen with O3 in the past.
As standars it selects a 20mhz carrier that falls with in the usual channel bandwith, you do have the option to select a 40mhz carrier however this could cause issues with congestion.
Laptimers
Looking at racemode on the analyser there is no reason it should not work with existing laptimers and race monitors/trackers.
DJI Goggles In Racemode & Other Pilots
When in Racemode if your DJI O4 or DJI O4 Pro Airunit is powered down but your your goggles are still on the goggles do not transmit, only once the Airunit is powered on do the goggles start to transmit.
On power on of the O4 Airunit the goggles and Airunits start to transmit on the last channel used. It is worth noting that while it does jump straight to the last channel used there does appear to be a very fast band scan and as a result of this I do not advise you power on while others are flying.
Note: It is only Racemode that aligns to channels R1-R8, DJI O4 and DJI O4 Pro in normal mode reverts to its usual wide band behaviour and should not be used in a race environment.
DJI O4 Airunit & DJI O4 Pro Airunit FCC Hack – Ham File Hack
Yes the HAM File Hack works on DJI O4 Airunit and DJI O4 Pro Airunit and provides FCC RF Output as it does on Avata 2 and DJI O3.
Performing the FCC unlock on the O4 Air Unit is identical to the DJI AVATA FCC hack create an empty plain text in something like Notpad++ file with the name ‘ham_cfg_support’, save it with no file extension.
Place this file on the root of an micro SD card and put into the DJI Goggles being used and power the system up.
A correctly FCC Hacks O4 will have the following manual channels available
3 Channels Available in 60/40Mhz Mode
7 Channels Available in 10/20Mhz Mode
