The Protos Drone is a ready to fly drone kit from Caddx based around their new Walksnail Ascent Digital FPV System.

The Drone is based around PX4 flight firmware, has the Ascent Lite Digital VTX built in and uses ExpressLRS for its RC Control link.

As part of the system Caddx have included their own RC controller called A-Link, this is using a unsupported fork of ExpressLRS 3x firmware and is not endorsed or supported by the ExpressLRS project.

Caddx Protos Drone

The Caddx Protos Drone is base on PX4 Firmware and features optical flow built in, this allows for position hold and altitude hold as well as stabilised and Manual flight modes.

Out the box the Protos PX4 firmware is IMO badly tuned however this can be chaged with ratemode tuning via QGround Control

The Protos can also be flashed with Betaflight however you will loos Optical flow position hold modes and you may not be able to flash back,.

A-Link Remote Controller

Based on a fork of ExpressLRS 3x this remote is designed to be used with the Protos drone.

2.4Ghz STM32 Based.

RC controller called A-Link, this is using a unsupported fork of ExpressLRS 3x firmware and is not endorsed or supported by the ExpressLRS project. See Review for more information.

Ascent VTX In Drone

The Caddx Protos is fitted with the Ascent Lite VTX that supports upto 1080P 60FPS FPV live feed.

  • MC_ACRO_EXPO – Use to reduce RC Expo, set to 0.30 Max, )(default is 0.69)
  • MC_ACRO_EXPO_Y – Use to reduce RC Expo, set to 0.30 Max (default is 0.69)
  • MC_ACRO_P_MAX – Use to increase pitch rates (500.0 geg/s default)
  • MC_ACRO_R_MAX – Use to increase roll rates (500.0 geg/s default)
  • MC_ACRO_Y_MAX – Use to increase yaw rates (500.0 geg/s default)
